66th Annual Nadadoor Ammal Vidwat Sadas

Every year, annual Nadadoor Ammal Vidwat Sadas was being conducted in conjunction with Chitthirai Month’s Chitthirai, Thirunakshatram of Sri Nadadoor Ammal in month of April-May. But, due to the lockdown in place because of pandemic situation the Sadas could not be held in April-May of 2020. But with slight improvement in situation, in order to ensure that the Sadas is not skipped for the entire year , it was decided to have the Sadas from 6th December to 10th December 2020, in conjunction with Karthigai Chitthirai at Sri Nadadoor Azhwan Tirumaligai, Srirangam.

The inaugural function of Sadas began with arrival of Srimushnam Chinna Andavan at Sri Nadadoor Azhwan Tirumaligaiand then Sri Paravakottai Chinna Andavan too arrived . Since Sri Paravakottai Chinna Andavan has more Chaturmasya Sankalpas as an ascetic, as per the tradition, Sri Srimushnam Chinna Andavan performed Sashtanga Pranama first to Sri Paravakottai Chinna Andavan. The meeting of the two asectics was a sight to behold.

Sri Paravakottai Chinna Andavan, in his Anugraha Bhashanam, mentioned the contribution of various Acharyas of Sribhashya Simhasanam lineage to Sri Ramanuja Sampradaya, especially for propagation of Sribhashyam.

Srimushnam Chinna Andavan’s Ashukavitvam

Sri Suvarna Lakshmidhara Navaneeta Nata Swami who is the prinicpal deity of Sri Nadadoor Ammal Tirumaligai who was in Gribhagraha of Sri Namperumal for about forty years, chose Sri Venkataseshacharya Mahadesikan as His worshipper in 1890s. Since then, Sri Navaneeta Nata Swami has been worshiped by him and his son Sri Ashukavi Sarvabhuama Srinidhi Swami. Sri Srimushnam Chinna Andavan performed Mangalashasanam to the Lord Sri Navaneeta Nata Swami and composed a shloka exhibiting his Ashukavitvam, as follows

नवनीतनटं देवं नराणामतिदेवतम्। वात्स्यश्रीश्रीनिधिस्वामी पुजयामास तं हरिम्।।

Navaneetanatam Devam Naraanaamatidevatam | Vaatsyasri Srinidhi Swamii Pujayaamaasa tam Harim||

Meaning: The lord who is ruler of all men, that Hari was worshipped as Navaneeta Nata by Sri Srindhi Swami.

Srimushnam Chinna Andavan composed few more shlokas during his Anugraha Bhashanam, these sholkas along with their detailed meaning will be published in Thai month issue of Sri Ranganatha Paduka.

On all five days Yajur Veda, Sama Veda, Srimad Ramayana, Sri Vishnu Puranam, Srimad Bhagavatam, Paduka Sahasram and Desika Prabandham parayanam were done. On the final day, big Sattrumurai with Isavasya Upanishad was conducted.

All participating Vidwans and Parayanakartas were honoured with Sambhavana and Vastram. On all days Tadeeyaradhana was performed by team of traditional chefs under the leadership of Paiyyambai Sri. U.Ve. Srirama Desikacharya.

On the days, when both Srimad Andavan graced the Sadas, they asked questions to the participants and encouraged them whole-heartedly. The presence of both the ascetics in the Vidwat Sabha was like simultaneous presence of Sri Alavandar and Sri Emperumanar!
